Java Cabana in Memphis

Absolutely great experience stopped in while layover for business. Very rarely do you experience a place with charm and great service. The latte was delicious delivering on all aspects of flavor, taste, and perception. Bravo bravo

One of my favorite coffee shops in Memphis!! Funky place, friendly staff and tasty coffee. I like to try different varieties of coffees and I love ‘mystery train’ coffee here. They have open mic on Thursday nights, so the place gets crowded on those nights. Still it’s a good place to hang out.

Our visit to Java Cabana was merely by accident because I was in the mood for a milkshake after walking the block there was noone that had one on their menu. We spotted Java Cabana on our way in earlier that day and thought we would give them a shot since we had tried everywhere else. I had the peanut butter milkshake, it was really good. Lets just say when she (the barista) got ready to make it she pulled a large bucket of icecream out of the freezer to make it :) it was the real thing! The White Chocolate Mocha was good as well. We sat at one of the mismatched tables and played chess while listening to soft music in the background. There were a few other people in there on laptops, reading, and studying. It was relaxing. Its not a chain so everything in it is not ultra modern like Starbucks, so dont go expecting it to be so.

Fun little place with great coffee and friendly staff. Little hole in the wall with a vintage store in the back.

I love this place! Staff Is very friendly, and the vibe is very laid back. It's everything you want in a coffee shop. They also have a large menu of drinks and things to eat.

Always enjoy the atmosphere and vibe at Java Cabana and though I don't live in the area when I come through I like stopping there. The people are always laid-back and very nice, great coffee and if you catch any open mic nights you will enjoy. (pictured here is the Lisa Marie. Yum!)

Best coffee house in Memphis, hands down. Great coffee, homemade sandwiches and desserts, and a one of a kind cozy-at home atmosphere. If you want the real deal local café scene, a place to meet new people, or just a nice place to read and study, this is the place for you. No matter who you are, everyone is welcome.

Great experience i performed at the open mic there for Valentine's Day and had a very great experience. Very friendly, warm, and welcoming atmosphere the thing i love about the businesses and people in Copper Young is they know how to treat people. Everyone was very courteous, helpful, and poliet. If you come to Memphis on business or leisure i highly recommend you stop by the Java Cabana Coffeeshop and tell them Big Ed sent ya. 😍

Java Cabana, is a nice and quiet place. You could just relax and drink your coffee or tea.The staff is nice and friendly. They also have diffrent works of art, made by the locals of Memphis.

I have not had their food yet, however I will be trying it soon! This is hands down, the best coffee shop in the Memphis area! Very, very good coffee at a reasonable price! Love the atmosphere, love the staff, and love the coffee. This is a must try and a top tier of coffee in Memphis!

Used to love this place but last few times it was just disappointing. Slow, brought me the wrong drink.. and another time right drink but tasted bad. They had zero non dairy options.. no almond or coconut milk, no natural non refined sweeteners. Also, the place is kind of dirty to be honest. Maybe the kitchen is clean as a whistle but the main area needs serious help. I think I saw brown cobwebs attached to the various tacky dirty looking junk hanging from the ceiling. Just gross.. and no. Bottom line the place appears to have been run into the ground over the years. Too many other cleaner, better options for a cup of joe.In reply to owners reply, nothing mean spirited sbout my review. Just factual, honest truth about how things appear to be. Glad to hear you now offer natural alternatives.. none existed at the time I inquired. Otherwise, I can only say that old buildings arent a reasonable excuse for being dirty. Like Redd Foxx once said, your butt doesnt wash itself.

Original local coffee shop my daughter and I love to frequent! A must visit place in midtown to sit and chill. A definite favorite in Memphis.

Literally the most cozy, comforting, homey place I've been. Wen't on a road-trip and found this place luckily. Easily the best experience the whole time! I can say with confidence it's one of my favorite places to be.

It was amazing, the vibe in there is very chill and laid back. Sometimes it can be slow getting your drinks or snack, but there's so much to do in there that it doesn't matter.

Friendly and patient staff, however hours change semi frequently as of recently and weren’t accurate on here. The coffee wasn’t bad, but definitely wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. I will cut some slack as I had came in close to closing (inaccurate online hours listed).

Thanks residents of Cooper-Young in Memphis Tn. What a wonderful positive group of young artists! Thanks for welcoming us oldsters with open arms. I feel like we made friends and got to hear some pertinate poetry. The Music was fantastic! It was enriching. Thank you.

Open mic night is every Thursday from 8pm to 10pm. Local people getting on stage showing what they got to offer. Ranging from poetry to singing to duets to performance. A treat and delight to brighten your week. Tonight was a lot of for me. But do not take my word for it, check it out yourselves.

I like shops like this that offer suggestions and are willing to tell you what they think you should order. Any place that tells you everything is great doesn't know what they're talking about. I was suggested the vanilla Hazelnut iced latte because I told him I wanted iced but not too sweet. It's still kinda too sweet. Maybe go half sweet. The flavor was good but too sweet to enjoy the espresso. IMO. Love the atmosphere/decor tho.

This place is so adorable. I sat in here and played chess for an hour with the bf and felt right at home. The coffee itself was pretty tasty. I love the atmosphere. It looks a little worrisome from the outside but don't let it fool you! It's very cozy and open on the inside. They also have a cute little shop for clothes in the back. Definitely worth checking out this coffee place in the Memphis area!

This place is very cute and has nice offerings, but to be very clear... BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT WELCOMED HERE. I found a cute black hat for Memphis in May, but the owner didn't bother to interact with me. Also, my boyfriend and I were recorded and posted to the social media of a very overweight, older white male who referred to us as a ´weird couple.´ The blatant racism and lack of customer service caused me to not buy anything from this store.

I love their potato salad, milk shakes and the cookies. If you're looking for a chill place to either play chess or chills with friends then this is the place for you. The coffee and cafe's are unique and wonderful. Try the funky monkey or a wonderful milkshake.

In the Memphis Metro area on a business trip and decided to stop by this lovely place for coffee around 1:15pm 4/11/19. The interior is very cozy, inviting, and filled with cute decorations. The gentleman at the counter who processed my payment and order was very friendly and welcoming. I don't know who the other gentleman was that he was chatting with but I managed to engage in a brief pleasant conversation with both of them. In town for a few more days before I head out and I will definitely stop by again for coffee. This place is definitely recommended.

This place was my favorite years ago when I was an undergrad at University of Memphis so naturally I had to stop in when I came to visit. Yep, still hands down the best coffee in the area. Their lavender mocha is a dream come true.

Since I first came to Java Cabana to get a friend of mine some caffeine right before the Rocky Horror Picture Show, never in my life have I been disappointed by what Java Cabana offered. Not only do I love their cool drinks and funky atmosphere, I especially love how friendly the staff is. This shop is definitely a longtime favorite of mine and will be for many years to come. Special thanks to Robert for baking those delicious cinnamon-smelling chocolate chip cookies to pair with Melaati and I's orange spiced tea, as well as to my friend, India, from Rhodes College, for picking out an adorable golden owl plate to go with my slice of caramel cake the other day. You all are amazingly, talented people with good eyes for art. :)

Fun and funky coffee shop in a lovely district. The staff were incredible, too. Wish we could come every day!

Smoothing breeze and toothsome teas and likeness of faeries smiling in the trees and all fell a hush for a moment plush, with peace, a blessing bestowed on bended knee. I only just awoke, a distant call drew me away. Not forever can we stay where mermaids, blushing between bands of light, sink from flight beyond the darkest shades of deeps.

Love the atmosphere of this neat little place! Amazing coffee. I've tried 3 different coffee drinks and all were better than my expectations!

I have a very pleasant experience everytime I come to this unique gem. The staff is super nice and the coffee and cake is excellent. I even met an old man that challenged me to a game of chess. You cant beat an afternoon spending a little time here.

This coffee shop isn't bad at all. It's VERY hipster so if that's your scene, great! The coffee is delicious, the aeststic is very unique, and they have several games available to play while you drink including multiple chess boards.They also seem big on local talent, but I had to leave before their open mic night started. However, LOTS of people showed up for it so the community must be strong.

This is such a wonderful and cool little spot.

Poor, poor Mary. We had a love/hate relationship most of the time, but I never wished her ill will. She was surrounded by those who really loved her when she passed.

Quaint and comfortable, with an eclectic montage of vintage tables and decorations. I was concerned about finding parking, but midday there was plenty of street parking.There are 3 shots of espresso in a 16 oz. Cup, we got the fancy vanilla latte and mystery train, both were good, but I preferred the fancy vanilla latte. They were sweet, but not too sweet like at a chain coffee shop.

This place is super quaint. The iced coffees we got were DELICIOUS. The staff is friendly. It was a quiet place that one might sit and read or browse the internet.

Their claim is the best coffee in Memphis. The claim is credible. :)

Nice place but the young lady behind the counter was not very pleasant. The internet was off and you don't get the password until you purchase something. Once I purchased my coffee and sandwich she told me it was down. Things changed a bit when the owner arrived. The owner was very nice and provided great customer service. There are several coffee shops in the area. Not sure if I will give this a second chance.
